The first painting of Spring...

Here Comes the Sun, 2/17/2013, acrylic wash, monotype and rice paper on canvas, 20 x 20 inches
I'm leaning back to the yellows again...this painting makes me very happy every time I walk by it hanging on the study wall where I put new things to see if they work or not...and this one just pleases me in a happy way. The morning mist and hoar frost at sunrise this morning was what I had in mind when I puttered around on this canvas...

It's been a long winter, not so much weather-wise, it's been an easy one as far as Upstate New York winters go (it's not over until it's over up here in the higher elevations.) I've been up and down with FMS flare-ups and a miserable sinus infection that is being stubborn...just when I think it's done and gone, it's back again in all of its gross-oss-ity...this nonsense certainly doesn't make me prime for creativity, but I do keep at it in spite of everything.

I do have a few canvases in the works, another blue nocturne is lingering in that half-finished stage in which I'm not so enamored with it that there's nothing a good slather of color won't cure...just obliterate the darn thing and get it over with...maybe...just looking  at it in this late afternoon light has made me almost change my mind...I'll just glare at it for another day and put paint and energy on something else instead...

SOLD!
I sold another one from my little Nocturne Forest series at Szozda Gallery during the last group exhibition...I'll have to frame up the other one for another day...
