Falling Stars...

The Falling Stars series, 2015, collage, acrylic wash and rice paper on Stonehenge paper, 8 x 8 inches

They fly and dance, they swing and sway...I made these little beauties on the evenings of 12/21 and 12/22...instead of icing the Christmas cookies...sometimes the brain gets an itch and it needs to be scratched...it's been a long time since I puttered with paint...I've needed a break to generate new ideas, now I have so many of them they're going to overflow! I'm in the process of working on my 2016 contribution to the Sketchbook Project and it will be full of stars, I have the stars cut out, the pages are in the process of being painted, soon I will be attaching the stars to their "sky"...it's going to be lots of fun, layers of paint, layers of paper...I'm quite happy with the idea...and the new artwork that will come of it...

Yes, the Christmas cookies did get finished!

Recent photographs...

Bird's Nest
There are a great deal of images of roses...this is just one small bush in my garden...I adopted her off a clearance rack years ago, and she always performs beautifully, even when the Japanese beetles chew on her pretty petals...

Other things that caught my eye...

Mushroom farm in a box produce...very delicious

Peonys in bloom

The showy white peony in my garden came into bloom June 4th so I filled my camera's memory disk with hundreds of photographs as I know they only stay for such a short time...

They're very O'Keeffe with their curves and waves...

They were so beautiful right up until the heavy rains came last week and left behind something that looked like broken angel wings...I look forward to next year's show...

Their frothy ruffles and lacy wings remind me of the old time Hollywood stars of the silver screen wrapped in chiffon...so of course, they are dramatic posing for their portraits in black and white...
