Practice, Patience, Persistence...part 2

Part one is over at my writer's blog Upstate Girl...

I'm a busy girl for being on vacation and going nowhere out of town...home is busy enough, thank you, and I'm enjoying myself in spite of the crappy weather that we've had...just look at this mess...some of these I had my doubts...still do, sort of...but I kept going until I was satisfied...I've gone crazy with Payne's Gray lately...I think I'm about done with it...it wasn't doing what I wanted it to do...close but not quite...I had to compromise with the medium...said a few choice words, walked away, came back, waited for the paint to dry...walked away again...returned...and then something happened...and done...

I'm having fun...can't you tell?

Thursday, June 25th there's a reception at Delavan Art Gallery from 5-8PM, Price Check: Syracuse will be the Wild Card exhibition, if you're in the area, please stop in! My Fred and I are participants in this traveling show event...I hope to see you there!

My Fred and I are going to be part of a traveling exhibition curated by Courtney Rile and Roslyn Esperon (for details see the link to Price Check).

These are four of the drawings out of six that will be traveling from Syracuse, NY to Beacon, MA to New York, NY:

River of Fallen Stars, October 4, 2008, mixed media (watercolor, colored pencils, acrylic and graphite pencil) on 8 x 8 Stonehenge paper, frame size 12 x 12 inches.

November Twilight, November 29, 2008, mixed media drawing (watercolor, acrylic, and colored pencil) on 8 x 8 Stonehenge paper, framed size 12 x 12 inches

Luna, February 7, 2009, mixed media drawing (watercolor, acrylic, graphitint pencil, and graphite pencil) on 8 x 8 Stonehenge paper, framed size 12 x 12 inches

This is very exciting, and we're thrilled to be part of the event!

My roll of BFK Rives arrived yesterday! Yay!! (I was on vacation from work yesterday so it was an extra special day!) I cut off two long slices from it and then cut them down to a pleasant variety of small sizes that I enjoy working in...Oh happy day, I'm going to play!!!!

And I see that I've just been given the One Lovely Blog Award by Annie at Ink Haven...Thanks Annie!!!

I'm working on my list of 15 blogs to pass it on to...I'll post them later once I've finished my picks...(it's so hard to choose!)

Me and Fibromyalgia...the good news is, it's not going to kill me.

I was finally diagnosed with Fibromyalgia in 2007 after years of being told my illness was all in my head. My Fibro is everyday fatigue with body aches, mostly tolerable, but when I have a flare-up, which can be triggered by stress, hormones, or being over tired from over-doing it, I get the full body pain, including chest pains (yes, these are scary, like an elephant standing on my chest.) Thankfully, it doesn't hurt to take a breath, but I feel breathless, I just do yoga and breathing exercises to stretch and breathe to ease through the worst of it, NSAIDs help to cut the pain, and naps are always a necessary thing when needed (but hard to do while at the day job!) It's a balancing act to manage, I take advantage of the good days, lay low on the bad ones, and very often, push through in spite of the bad days...some mornings I wish I could stay in bed, but I'm glad that I get up and about, very often 'the kinks' work themselves out. I refuse to take the recommended pharmaceutical band-aids on the market, I tried one once, and I don't like feeling like a zombie. I keep active with my creativity, I think that's the key to my overcoming this obstacle every day...and I have my Fred and our son, five cats, and one dog named Max.
