I added the children's moon at the top...I had to cut one out of paper for the size I wanted, and it went on perfect the first time~
Blue Sky Series, "There's more than blue going on in that sky..."
A detail, in the middle left, canvas and sumi paper visible
detail, lower right edge
detail of the middle, lots of yellow showing through
my latest pencil drawing in my sketchbook, I really love this one a lot!
A found painting... a pallet with some spray paint...I couldn't resist photographing it!
There are times I begin to become afraid that I've run out of steam and worry...What if I can't paint anymore? Usually, when I feel that way, I go back to my sketchbooks and draw those stream of consciousness drawings, cranking them out one after another...and then I feel better about everything again...so I've been going through this uncertainty... kind of rough few weeks, mostly because I haven't been feeling all that well, and I've been focusing on writing more since that's quieter...so it's a combination of things...
I've spent time on the porch today, sunning myself, storing up sunshine for the winter... staring up at that pristine blue sky and thinking about what I'm going to paint next... I painted over a group of canvases that were not working for me, and laid down some colors to work with for the Blue Sky series... and I have taken some scrap paper and scumbled acrylic washes on them for future collages... it's been a creatively busy weekend, and I'm quite content...
A small drawing, I'm sticking with the harder leads, the softest being an HB, but mostly worked with 2H and 4H, I'm going back to the earlier work... I do that now and then, there's comfort there working with pencil. I just make the random marks and then make more random marks, and follow the flow... very relaxing.
Samhain, Cavatina, 11/6/2009, pencil on Bristol (smooth) paper, 14 x 11 inches
I finished it finally (started it September 27th)...the "bigger" they are, the longer they take to make, I usually like little 'uns the best, but sometimes a big 'un is right for the time and I was so out of sorts feeling I needed the space to wander so forgive the meandering, aimlessness of it, these drawings are more personal as I work out things, focus, look inward for peace, go with the flow...you have no idea...or maybe you do. I usually name them as pieces of classical music because the lines and shapes remind me of sound...this one reminds of the 5th movement of Beethoven's String Quartet No. 13, Opus 130
(TNUA Concert Hall, Taipei March 21, 2008 Peter Winograd, violin, Laurie Carney, violin, Daniel Avshalomov, viola, Wolfram Koessel, cello)
My father-in-law passed away on November 5th...we see him off tomorrow...a bittersweet time...the Cavatina seems appropriate...
This piece of music also has significance in my novel, The Fractured Hues of White Light, (soon to be released, hopefully before Christmas!)
(Yes, I know...how do you find the time! I just do.)
I made art...and enjoyed every bit of it! But I haven't taken the time to download the photos...some are still 'unfinished'...so, I thought I'd post this little Symphony from April 19, 2009, pencil wanderings on paper, about 5 x 8 or so...I just go with the flow...this little drawing makes me very happy...it makes me think of cello's...
It's a mighty cold day out there, feels like it could snow...the sky is very dark and threatening...there's a frost warning tonight. There's a fire in the woodstove again after many days 'off'...
I've enjoyed my back to back "Day's"...my birthday was yesterday, and my Fred bought me a nifty sketchbox easel (which I filled with tubes of paint and brushes, and I have a tiny canvas drying on it...it's a ridiculously tiny canvas (6 x 6), but I love painting small...
